May 20th, 2008 Posted in CaliforniaSan Carlos is an established community in Central San Diego County. Located close to the 8 Freeway and the recently expanded 125 Freeway, residents of this charming San Diego suburb have no trouble getting around town. Downtown San Diego is an approximate 15 drive.
Homes, built mostly in the 60’s and 70’s, are dotted along gently rolling hills, offering some residents beautiful views. San Carlos real estate is comprised mostly of single family homes of the ranch style, though there are some affordable condominium and townhome opportunities.
Community involvement is abundant in San Carlos, as is recreation. Lake Murray and Cowles Mountain are both part of the largest regional park in the county, the Mission Trails Regional Park System. Covering 6000 acres, Mission Trails offers hiking, fishing, picnic areas and other activities as it incorporates some of San Diego’s more unique geography. Cowles Mountain is the highest peak in San Diego.
San Carlos offers all the amenities of the city, as far as shopping and conveniences go, but retains the small town community vibe.
