State Flag: The design consists of the pelican group from the state seal, in white and gold, and a white ribbon bearing the state motto, "Union, Justice, and Confidence", on a field of a solid blue. Flag adopted 1912.
State Flower: Magnolia - The state flower of Louisiana is the magnolia. In the summer, the state's
thousands of magnolia trees blossom. The magnolia flower has an especially rich
fragrance. The blooms are very large and creamy white.
